FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

“Moving With Intent”

PHLanthropy Week Returns November 9th – 14th

Philadelphia, PA––PHLanthropy Week returns to Philadelphia, November 9th-14th with its 2nd Annual week of curated events. Covid-19 has changed the needs of our communities and has changed the way we serve those in need. Protests and boycotts are bringing reckonings to the systemic injustices that face our communities. While home to over 10,000 Nonprofits and over $4 Billion in Philanthropic investments, our region has been home to some of the most staggering disparities in poverty, health outcomes, educational attainment, and career trajectories. For 2020, PHLanthropy Week’s theme is “Moving With Intent” to cultivate sustainable and equitable support for the community and nonprofits through collaborative and inclusive philanthropy.

An initiative of Civic Capital Consulting, PHLanthropy Week will coincide with National Philanthropy Month and the Association of Fundraising Professionals' National Philanthropy Day which honors philanthropists, businesses, and volunteers for their impact in their communities. As a virtual event, PHLanthropy Week will bring together more than 200 nonprofits, funders, and community leaders for a week of interactive workshops, coffee talks, and networking to share, discuss, and discover resources and opportunities to further the Region’s Philanthropic practices and impact.

“As Governments, Corporations, Philanthropic institutions, and Nonprofits adjust their practices to become more equitable and impactful, what is their true intent?” Are organizations superficially aligning with current trends and publicity or are they truly and intentionally changing their practices to make a difference?” says Monique Curry, Principal and Founder of Civic Capital Consulting. “Through PHLanthropy week, our goal is to foster conversations that build agency among all stakeholders and a commitment to address structures and systems that contribute to disparate outcomes for people in the Greater Philadelphia area.”

2020 Partners include Generocity and Urban League of Philadelphia who will host events, and the Urban Affairs Coalition who will support this impactful week as its fiscal sponsor.

PHLanthropy Week’s schedule announcement and Registration will begin September 22nd, 2020.
