About the Event
Join National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. - Pennsylvania Chapter and Beacon Networking for Life for this insightful book talk with author Dr. Tyrone McKinley Freeman and moderator Civic Capital Consulting Principal and Founder, Monique Curry-Mims. They will discuss his book "Madam C.J. Walker's, The Gospel of Giving" which explores the past, present, and future of African American philanthropy as viewed through the life of noted entrepreneur and philanthropist Madam C. J. Walker.
Throughout her life, beginning as a penniless daughter of former slaves and evolving to become the first American self-made female millionaire, Madam Walker practiced generosity in any way that she was able through personal actions, monetary support, and leveraging her successful company as a vehicle for lifting up others. In the process, she became a significant American philanthropist and a foremother of black philanthropy today. Her story serves as a model and inspiration for anyone who seeks to do good in the world.
